Fire Sculpture
Ephemeral sculpture made by throwing red dirt into a burnt tree in the middle of a wild fire.
Earth artist Ana Mendieta used blood extensively in her practice and I have found that the red dirt of Northern Australia serves a similar purpose in my work. Red dirt is the life blood of the land out here, it colours everything.
Red Roads have always felt, for me, like veins that carry people across this wild land. In my child hood these roads lead to adventures, to see the people that we loved, to the sea.
A whole life spend on red roads with the smell of dry season fires filling the air.
Created on Dalabon Country just outside of Bulman in the Northern Territory.
I pay my respects to the Indigenous people here who allow us to live on their land.
All prints are custom printed in Australia on 310 gsm cotton rag.
All works are signed and are limited edition of just 10.
