“a testament to its existence and demise”

"The Broken Portraits" is a series of abstract self-portraits created with natural materials and photographed with a dying scanner. Discovering the scanner in my father’s house opened a door to explore the boundary between decay and permanence. Each image incorporates found materials: seed pods, fish, flowers, clay, and bones captured and abstracted by the failing technology. With every scan, the scanner dies a little more, fracturing pixels and distorting images, leaving behind a unique fingerprint as it fades into oblivion.

"The Broken Portraits" stands as a testament to its existence and demise, each ephemeral image now immortalised within the permanence of Bitcoin blockchain.
